I realize for everyone in the northern hemisphere it is now spring/summer so you are likely much more interested in going outdoors than playing online video games....but...

If anyone is interested in playing Simon Dekker's "Allods & Legends" NWN tribute module, let me know (preferrably by replying to this post). I have the urge to play that module again so I wonder if anyone else might want to play too.

Just a thought....

P.S. Maybe it will inspire me to finally finish those few remaining updates/changes that I just never got around to finishing the last time around....like maybe finishing Urd's Tower OR adding in the Moonlight area OR adding in the Kids Paradise (easy) area with some more starter character quests. And of course there's always my planned 2nd server for Ascended PCs ONLY (which was intended to be a trip through Dante's Inferno...but juiced up to be interesting for an ACTION RGP). I'm open to more ideas too, so if anyone has an idea or request for modification....post your idea to this forum thread.

Hmmm....

Well, the intended holiday server period has reached its end and nobody even came close to defeating the Final Challenge and claiming the bragging rights that go with it. That's a real shame. I think the build up to and then facing the finale are pretty cool. I also had some really nifty additional material planned for AFTER that Final Challenge (but that's still a work-in-progress and will have to wait for another day I guess).

At any rate, I hate taking the server down but my poor computer just can't take much more of this 24/7 running (it's only a poor little notebook computer). I need to give the poor thing a rest.

So, from now on I can't guarantee the server will be available 24/7. I still have a few more very minor tweaks to implement before I pronounce the module as well and duly upgraded for server play (and be willing to stamp my name in stone to the upgrades). So the server may be up occasionally when/if I'm making or testing any remaining modifications.

But I guess the Final Challenge will remain unclaimed and be available for someone to face and perhaps complete at a later date.

In the meantime, I'll release my modified version (v2) of the module back to Simon if he wants it and he can decide if he wishes for that modified version to be available for general download or not. So if anybody wants a copy of this thing, you'll have to ask Simon.

P.S. Despite identifying and fixing a handful of really nasty exploits and bugs from the original module that would allow for super power gaming, I think the module is STILL just WAAAAY too easy for my liking. I can start a brand new character and in less than 2 days I can have that character rise to and defeat the Final Challenge with no problems at all. But then ROM2 was pretty much the same way for me too..... So that's yet another demonstration of what an excellent job Simon did replicating the Allods/ROM experience. This really is an excellent module and deserves much wider exposure to more players. I just wish more people would come and experience it.

Thanks again Simon. And thanks to Gray Fox for his excellent cursed weapon effects (to which I put the finishing touches). I hope you'll both be happy with how I polished what you began.

The bragging rights remain unclaimed....no one has completed the Final Challenge as yet. So come on....bring your A-games.

For anyone who needs some help getting the game running, here are a few useful links:

Replacement for the Master Server (so you can still see all the available servers out there). Use this client extension to load the game rather than the "normal" method:

FYI....the Allods & Legends server is in the "ROLEPLAY" tab.... < OR > ....you can direct connect at the following IP address:

OK, I'm a slow learner and certainly no C# programmer....

But I figured out why the delete character function was not working....I had the delete action assigned to the PC who was requesting to be deleted and thus was getting booted from the module so the NWNX LETOSCRIPT could delete the file. But once they got booted, there was no longer a PC around to process the deletion action....DOH!!!

SO, now I have these actions assigned to the module itself and it works now (maybe not flawlessly, but it works).

The one frustrating thing is that I can't seem to get the "delete character" function to work. All the in-game messaging appears to work right, and your character gets booted from the server properly, but the BIC file just never gets deleted. You got back in and your damned character is still in your account. It's most frustrating!!! Oh well.

I realize I'm about a half day early for about half the planet, but it's Dec 17th in some places already.

The IP address to direct-connect is:

173.30.66.199:5121

Remember, in addition to just being a holidays place to play it's also a bragging rights race to see who can complete the Final Challenge first.

If anyone needs help getting NWN set up or connecting, either email me directly or post to this thread. And report any bugs, exploits, or just plain improvement ideas you come across. They would be MUCH appreciated.

And of course HAVE FUN !!!
