The only sources for allods.exe patches and utilities would perhaps be:

vampyre's site, exlend's site, and maybe there were a few files on FireFly's old site.

I'm sure there are more out there, but I've never had the allods2.exe game, so I've never had cause to keep track of them. I wish you luck finding whatever you need.

Correction on point 5.

For multiplayer it's enough to simply put the map in your rom2 directory.

Afaik, The GoG version of Rom2 is Russian, so it has allods.exe instead of rom2.exe.
And as the patches are made for the English version I'm afraid it won't work for you.
If and where there are patches for allods2 I wouldn't know. But maybe NOVA does.

One more question, I've been searching for the level restriction patch for most of the day and couldn't find where to get it from. All I've seen are references of the patch, but all of them simply said that I should get it.
Is there a place where patches and such files are located? I looked up in the Files section and couldn't find it.

OK, so Beebs got to this first. So let me start by just saying BBKing knows what he's talking about, so ditto to everything he said. That doesn't leave much for me to say, but let me add just a couple of things.

#1 Regarding the level restrictions on the unpatched game, you can actually find those level restrictions on one of the linked web sites up at the top menu bar of this Phantasia site....specifically Simon Dekker's site. Simon has a nice little chart showing the restriction numbers.

http://members.chello.nl/s.dekker/

#4 just an FYI...the .a2c extension on your multiplayer character files stands for "Allods 2 Character" (thus a2c). Allods is the name of the original Russian release of this game.

And that's all I got.

1. It's Level Restriction that prevents you from entering a map for which you don't have the XP level yet.
However there's a patch for that, The Level Restriction Patch.
Also if you're character has reached a higher level map, you're locked out from lower level maps. And there's also a patch for that.

In the old days of no patches one could end up loosing so much xp (by dying and trying to retrieve your bag and dying again) in horror, that leaving the map, say to get some help, would mean you couldn't re-enter the map, So in horror you had to keep an eye on your xp.

2. Higher level maps offer higher armour and weapons and scrolls and potions.
And buying these items is just a matter of having enough money

3. More about xp, read what NOVA said in the topic called plz recommend maps, at http://www.phantasia.nl/rom2/index.php?page=topic&id=650

4. All saved files you'll find in the rom2 directory. (extension .a2c)

5. Just put them in your rom2 directory. Then make sure the map name is in one of your server.cfg files, without a ; in front of the map name.

To recommend maps?
Easy lvl: Kids Paradise (ogre quest from inn) is a good start.
Medium lvl: New Urza and The Pit.
Hard lvl: Holy Land, Mordone, The New Pit.
Horror lvl: Astral, Havec, Hydras Revenge, King Arthur.

To make your life a bit easier, start with a mage. A mage doesn't need any gear or staff to do damage (fire), gains xp quickly and makes money also. Use the money to buy books for the mage. At least till you have the teleport book.
And a general tip: lure monsters always away from their spot, so that when you die, you can always go back to pick up your bag.

More info , check previous posts, also under General Chat.

Have fun

Hi everyone. I used to play this game as a kis, and just recently bought it on GoG when I saw it on sale and the nostalgia hit me.

There are a few confusing things that I don't get, it's probably well known but I couldn't find any help anywhere, it's sad how little there is about this game that gave me so many good memories.

1. I play a multiplayer character by myself, and I say that some of the maps are grayed out and I can't play them, and I only can play the easy maps. after a while playing, I saw that the medium maps opened up as well.
Why is that? and how can I play the ones that are still grayed out? is it about my character's XP? I couldn't find any clue about it.

2. I remember buying all sorts of cool equipments, but in the shops there is only weapons and armor up to mithril. Am I doing something wrong? are there shops of different levels? is this also an XP thing? I really dont know how this work.

3. Related to the other two questions - what does the XP do, exactly? I play and get my skills and hp up, also there is XP on the character sheet. What exactly does it do?

4. I see people talking about backing up your characters and saves. how exactly do I do that? Where are the save files located on the computer? It's really hard to gey any information about this.

5. I also see that there are many custom multiplayer maps around. how can I install them to play in them myself? what maps (new or pre-made) would you recommend ? what do you find the most fun?

Thank you all for reading through this whole post, and thank you for taking time to respond.
