It would appear the full retail version is also still available on the following site:

https://firedrop.com/128dd64ae2186cdb

Be prepared to wait a while (perhaps a half hour or more), as the file downloads rather slowly. But it does appear to be the full retail English version of ROM2.

This same full version looks to be available here too:

http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/pc/windows-games/rage-of-mages-ii-necromancer/

Lastly, it appears that the following site is hosting both a stripped down minimum of files needed to play online and also the full retail version here:

Hey NOVA, hi :-)

All files in one place -- how convenient.
Well then, if there is interest I can make available an iso of rom2.
Full 1:1 image of original western retail -- in need of all patches, as it was on July 31st, 1999.

Let me know.

First, please accept my apologies for the delay in replies. I don't check this forum as often as I used to in the past. That's partly because this forum and the players who used to frequent it seem to have moved on with their real lives now. It's also because I've had physical health issues again in the past few months which took priority and kept me away from much of my "normal" online activity. I appear to be slowly on the mend now which led me to check the forum today.

As Gray Fox suggested, I would encourage you to try a less-than-legal version of the ROM2 version of the game. Since you already paid for the GOG version, I wouldn't bother feeling too dishonest about it. And by all means keep the GOG version installed too, just install all others in a different hard drive folder and they should never interfere with each other.

Try the following site for the files from the last Christmas reunion we had back in 2013. The files appear to still be all there amazingly.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/au4hgjum274j374/hwSrQhwO_-/ROM2

This reunion HAT version is already all patched up and ready to go as-is so you shouldn't need to modify the files any further in order to play.

I promise to check this forum more often in future.

Good luck,
NOVA

I think there isnt a solution for this, unless I use the normal rom2.exe version. For now I'll have to keep using scrolls as a mage if I wanna play the game lol

Yeah, we surf this place on and off. It might be a while before people notice that something is going on -- but eventually we all do :-)

As for your problem with the game...
I do not doubt your words, but it is strange that a gog game would exhibit such faults. Something must be going on.

I only played the retail version of rom2, and only up to Windows 7 SP1. Furthermore, my retail version was a western release.
The gog version instead appears to be using the russian executables ("Allods 2" is in fact the original russian name of this game).

In the gog page of rom2 I read:
"Online multiplayer on Allods2.eu servers is available via separate client, available in the Extras section"

And in the Extras section I see listed a:
"Community Multiplayer Client by Allods2.eu (EN)"

This tells me that the gog version of rom2 is patched up properly, but with a HUGE caveat: you want multiplayer? -> you must go on a russian server where are surely enforced custom russian rules.
It may differ a lot from the multiplayer we know of around here :-/

My advice? Since you paid for a gog version, and are entitled to a valid license to use the game, you might as well find a one-step-below-legal copy of the RETAIL rom2 and play using that one.
Beware, though, that if you choose to play retail, you are going to need a few patches to make your game usable.
The good news is that all the required info are available on this very forum. You only need to dig around for the old threads (not even that old, really, as the place has seen little activity lately).

If you want better help, I am afraid that you will have to wait for the other regulars to notice this discussion.
On a positive note, we got a few real experts of the game here. I dare say that you are in the right place. Just wait.

Hey buddy, tkx for the reply (finally someone :D)

So yeah, they always drop some bags, the problem is that in the gog version the bag NEVER contain quest gear itens, only regular stuff. If I change to rom2.exe the bag will have quest gear itens. This will be good for feedback for future players playing in the gog version (if there will be anyone playing..). I also noticed that some quest gear itens makes the game not work, Im 90 body with my mage with lots of powerful quest gear itens, I cant play the game more than 1 min because it stops working all of the sudden for no reason, when I play in a new account with no quest gear itens the problem disappear. Also I cant use anu spells for some reason too. All of this that Im saying is with the gog version changing the allods2.exe to rom2.exe, the regular rom2.exe doesnt work on my pc.

I am no expert of rom2, but I have never heard of such a problem.
I never played the GOG version, though. Anyway...

Are you sure that the creatures are not dropping their bag?
Every creature has a specific "drop spot" -- it is always at the top-left corner tile occupied by their sprite, regardless of the direction being faced. Take it to the letter.

In case of 1x1 sized creatures this is obviously the very spot they are walking on.
Trolls and Ogres are 2x2 sized creatures. Kill one and notice that their bag is always placed in the top-left corner of their sprite.

The same logic applies to flying creatures, but with the caveat that if the top-left corner of their sprite is over an impassable tile at the time of their death, they will not drop a bag.

An impassable tile is any tile that the Player Character cannot step his feet on. That is: if you can neither walk nor teleport on it, no bag will drop there.

I remember many a map built to exploit this behavior -- especially when there was to kill a quest dragon. Often the player would have to lure the dragon to a safe spot before killing it.

Well I figure out what the problem. THE GOG VERSION DOESNT DROP QUEST GEAR ITENS! I had to change the name of the file from allods2.exe to rom2.exe, when I do this the quest item appears when I kill the enemy. THe only problem is that you cannot use any spells or the game will close IN ROM2 for me(unfortunatelly im a mage). I need to solve this now, if anyone has any solution I'd apreciate. Hope someone reads this..

Im checking map editor to see what itens some specific monsters would drop,Im doing hard quest. dragon hunt for example, the lvl 4 dragon was supposed to drop a blizzard staff if I read correct, the problem is that I already killed it several times and he never drops the iten. The same thing happens in another maps. Is this normal?
